Fólkvangr
Freyja's home in the heavens, where she chooses half of those who die in battle; Odin takes the other half to Valhalla.
Fólkvangr is Freyja's domain, ninth in the list of divine homes in Grímnismál. Its single distinctive fact is a striking one: Freyja "decrees Who shall have seats in the hall" and chooses half of the battle-dead each day, "And half does Othin have" Grímnismál 14. Snorri repeats this, saying that wherever she rides to battle she takes half of the slain, and places Fólkvangr "in heaven" with her hall Sessrúmnir in it Gylfaginning 24. The sources do not describe life there or say how her share of the dead differs from the Einherjar of Odin's Valhalla. Beyond these two passages, the Eddas say nothing about the place.
