Dwarves
The smiths of the myths, who made the gods' greatest treasures and the fetter that holds Fenrir.
Alvíss
The dwarf who comes to claim Thor's daughter as his bride. Thor keeps him answering questions about the names of things in every world until the sun rises and catches him.
Andvari

Brokkr
The dwarf who bet Loki his head that his brother could out-forge Ívaldi's sons, worked the bellows while a fly stung him, won, and sewed Loki's lips shut.
Durinn
The second of the dwarves in Völuspá, after Mótsognir; the dwarves were made in the earth 'as Durin said'. Tolkien borrowed the name.
Dvalinn

Eitri
The dwarf smith, Brokkr's brother, who forged the boar Gullinbursti, the ring Draupnir and Thor's hammer Mjöllnir; Brodeur's translation calls him Sindri.

Two murderous dwarf brothers who kill Kvasir and brew the mead of poetry from his blood, then kill the giant Gillingr and his wife, and give up the mead to save their own lives.
Litr
The dwarf who ran in front of Thor at Baldr's funeral and was kicked into the burning pyre; also a name in the Völuspá list of dwarves.
Mótsognir
The first and mightiest of the dwarves in Völuspá, made when the gods decided to shape the race of dwarves; Snorri calls him Módsognir.
Norðri, Suðri, Austri and Vestri Norðri, Suðri, Austri, Vestri
Four dwarves named for the cardinal directions; Snorri says the gods set one under each corner of the sky, which is made from Ymir's skull.
Sons of Ivaldi Ívalda synir
Dwarf smiths who made three treasures for the gods: Freyr's folding ship Skíðblaðnir, Odin's spear Gungnir and Sif's golden hair.
